A HELL OF A WOMAN edited by MEGAN ABBOTT
By far the best anthology to come along in a while is A Hell of a Woman an anthology of female-noir edited by Megan Abbott. The collection includes stories by some of Dead End Books favorites including:Charlotte Carter, Christa Faust, Alison Gaylin, Sara Gran, Vicki Hendricks, Donna Moore, Vin Packer, Rebecca Pawel, Cornelia Read, S. J. Rozan, Zoe Sharp, Sarah Weinman, Ken Bruen, Stona Fitch, Allan Guthrie, Charlie Huston, Eddie Muller, Daniel Woodrell. There are also appreciations of female noir pioneers by Reed Farrel Coleman, Jason Starr, Daniel Judson, Theresa Schwegel, and many others. (My personal favorite is Charlie Huston’s tribute to “Naughty Bookstore Girl” from The Big Sleep.) We’ve got copies signed by Megan Abbott, Christa Faust, Eddie Muller, David Corbett, Sara Gran, Cornelia Read and publisher David Thompson.
